We took the month of July off from school and we started back this week. Today we studied about the Star- Spangled Banner and about how it was written. We then painted some fireworks and the flag. Earlier we studied about George Washington our first President and Betsy Ross who made the first American flag. So today Tanek made a American flag with paints.

And the flag. It is not easy for a 5 year old to paint stripes with paint but I think he did pretty good. He was pleased with it and we enjoyed learning how the Star-Spangled Banner came to be written. Hopefully one day we will get to visit some of the sights that go along with our early history.

He did a great job!! In November we will have to visit Ft McHenry where the Star Spangled Banner was written - so much history about the flag in this area.
We would love that. That is exactly what we read about. I didn't even know all the story. I am learning so much. :)
