Home School Convention

This past Thursday and Friday Stephanie, Tanek and I attended the FPEA Home School Convention held at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando.  On the way down we stopped at Downtown Disney for a visit to the Lego Store.

Tanek's favorite thing is Lego's.  He loves them, has tons of them and is very creative with them.
He enjoyed being able to make and race cars

The Gaylord Palms is a very nice and fun place to stay.  We enjoyed walking around seeing their beautiful gardens, watching the alligators get fed, and of course swimming in the pool and sliding down the slides.

These cute little guys are having a nice time of sunning.
 They had water falls everywhere

 Beautiful fish
And the flowers and landscaping were gorgeous

Tanek and I love the slides.  This was a part of their million dollar remodel and we think it was a good thing.

Friday afternoon a wild fire broke out across the street and they had to close the pool area for a few hours.  It got pretty scary looking and was really close, but it didn't take long and the fire department had it under control.
You can see why it was necessary to close the pool area.
More of the hotel.  This was the KeyWest section.
 More of their beautiful gardens

 They had orchids everywhere.
The convention is always good.  It is so neat to see how much literature and things are available for  home school.  We also attended some really good conferences  This is a weekend we always enjoy.

A New Karate Belt

Today Tanek earned a red belt in Karate. He broke a board by kicking it and another on by hitting it.
I love Paks Karate.  They teach these kids Karate and self defense but they also teach them  respect and personal safety.

Proud owner of a new belt!
And then it was off to his Upward Soccer game!

Mother's Day 2012

Sunday we had lunch at Mama Mia's in Starke for Mother's Day.
Here is a picture of our Florida Family.  Ricky, Stephanie and Tanek.   Such a cute family picture.
And Gary and I.  We don't take too many pictures together.
After lunch Stephanie and I took Tanek and his bike on the trail.  This is such a nice trail to walk or bike on.  On the way back Tanek was riding way ahead of us.  We were calling him to stop, but he had gotten so far ahead he didn't hear us.  He had Stephanie's phone in his bag on his bike, so I called it.  He immediately stopped, got off the bike and started running back with the phone to give his mommy.  At least we got him to stop.  You can barely see his bike way up there and see how far ahead of us he was.  Sometimes he is just in his own little happy world.  He was just riding away having a great time.
