More Disney

At Epcot they had a new addition and it was a really neat play area for children. There were all sorts of climbing equipment. They had fake grass on the ground that was so cushy. I think it would be a great thing to have in the yard. Much softer than real grass, very green, no weeds, and never needs mowing. I would love to have that in the back yard.
On Saturday morning we made a quick trip to the Animal Kingdom before Ricky got there.

We rode the train. We were able to get in the very last seat which is where the conductor is. If you are lucky they will let you announce "All Aboard!" Tanek was practicing and the conductor thought he did such a good job she did let him announce it.

He was very good at saying "All Aboard" and really didn't need the microphone to be heard.

But the conductor let him use the microphone anyway. She also give him the guest conductor license. He has 2 of them now. She said he announced it better than she had heard all day.

Besides the Disney bus being his favorite ride the next best was on his daddy's shoulders

One of his favorite rides is the t-cups. This time we were riding with his daddy and he had that t-cup going faster than we have ever been on it. We were all quite dizzy.

The "Heath" family. Tanek was so happy to have his daddy at Disney. I don't think Disney is Ricky's favorite place to be, but I give him credit, he tried and he did it. I wonder how many other men indure Disney???

Mother's Day Disney Trip

Friday morning Stephanie, Tanek and I went to Disney to celebrate Mother's Day. Not that we need a reason to go, but this seemed like a good time. I particularly wanted to see the flower show at Epcot. Epcot to me is one of the prettiest places to walk through. The landscaping is always beautiful and especially during the flower show. They make so many Topiary's of the characters from plants. I just love to look at all their flowers and plants. The weather was beautiful but a little warm. But we had a good time anyway. We usually do the parks in the morning, then go back to the hotel and swim maybe take a nap and then do the parks again in the late afternoon- night. That really works well with us.
We went into Epcot late in the afternoon on Friday, after we had been to the Magic Kingdom, took a short nap and spent some time in the pool. I love the water slide at the pool. We stayed at Port Orleans, Riverside on the water side. It was beautiful. It is one of my favorite resorts (that we can afford). We haven't been to the really expensive ones, but this one is great.

All of these topiary's are made from plants and flowers. Sure wish I had a gardener like Disney does.

This is a part of Epcot and at night they do quite a show with fireworks and other things here.

I spent all day Friday and Friday night and Saturday until after lunch. Ricky came down on Saturday morning and they stayed until today (Sunday).

Backyard project- phase !

OK, we got the backyard rototilled and now it has to be raked out and tilled again. Tanek loves to help in the yard. He is papa's biggest helper in the yard.

It will be awhile before the ground is ready to plant. We also need to put in some soil enhancers before we plant. The rain has at least help to put some moisture in the ground. It is so sandy that water sort of runs off of it.

Tanek is serious about this yard work.

This Chinese Honey tree was given to us several years ago when it was quite little. It was in this pot and we set it out in the yard. Not really where we planned to leave it, but left it there until we decided where to put it. Obviously longer than we should have. It took root and then there was no moving it. The tree puts out some wonderful fruit. It looks like it is just sitting in this small pot, but the roots are actually in the ground. Since we are having to redo the whole lawn it seemed like a good time to deal with this tree too.

Gary cut the pot down and then he laid these stone blocks around to make a planter out of it.

It doesn't look like it would be that big of a job, but considering you have to get under the tree to do it and it required him laying down on the ground (the hard part was getting back up) it was harder than we thought. And then getting the stones to go around in a circle equally. Let's just say he is glad it is done and that there won't be another one to do.

The finished project. Looks pretty good. Just need to put the fence back together and get the grass planted. At least it makes the tree look like we wanted it there. And it isn't a bad place for it. It is easy to get to the fruit and convenient. The cold had really hit this tree back and we thought we had lost it, but it had more buds on it than ever. If they all grow the tree will be loaded down this fall. And the fruit is SO good.

Here is our little bunny bun. Yesterday while we were working out in the yard, he was just chillin on the porch. He has gotten "very" comfortable with his new home.

Tanek's Dental Check-up!

Today Gary and I took Tanek for his dental check up. Stephanie had to work and since she had already canceled his appointment once, she didn't want to do it again. I had decided I was going to get some pictures of it this time. Normally the parents don't go back in there, but I asked it I could take a picture of him. I figure most people think grand-parents are over the edge anyway and they usually try to humor us that they would let me and they did. He is getting his teeth cleaned and is being very good.
They have earphones on him I guess so he doesn't have to hear the noise of the cleaning. He was very good during the cleaning. I did hear some loud protesting when I went back out and they had to take x-rays. He didn't like that at all.

I just thought he looked so cute laying there getting his teeth cleaned and being such a big boy about it. They must be very good with children because a lot of children go here. I personally would like to have been back there with him, but I am sure it works out better for them this way.

It's Official- Summer is HERE!

We in Florida have two seasons. Winter and summer. Winter thank goodness is finally gone and now it is summer. May 1, we turned our air on and now it will probably be on until October. I don't mind the air, but I do prefer to have the windows open and enjoy free air. But that is over for now. We did have a couple weeks of Spring. This was taken around 5:30. It is out in the full sun and so it probably is only really about 92 degrees. The nice thing is that this temperature makes the next picture very enjoyable.

Yes, it is just about time for the first swim. The other day I checked the water temp and it was 80 degrees. I figured a few more days and we would be warm enough to go in. However, 4 1/2 inches of rain on Friday night dropped that temp down some. But the hot weather will bring it right back up. It doesn't take many days of this water sitting in that full sun to warm it up. Tanek loves the water and loves to swim. Last year he was just learning how to really swim. He will start swimming lessons next Monday at Swim America. They teach life saving swimming and that is what we wanted him to know. They don't consider that you know how to swim until you can swim 300 yards. Since he has access to the pool every day I wanted to be sure he can swim well, since I can't. I can swim enough to not drown, (at least in the pool) I can get to the side, but I am not a swimmer. We wanted him to swim well since he loves the water so much.

This is our newest project below. The hubs started rototilling up this area so we can replant it. It used to have some pretty nice St. Augustine grass in it, but also a lot of weeds. We had some

Scott's weed and feed for southern lawns, so I figured I would put that on there and kill the weeds and then fill in with more grass and have a very pretty lawn. We have way to much grass around the house to worry about having really pretty grass. We just keep it green and mowed and it looks pretty good. But I wanted to have really pretty grass in the back pool area and since it is just a small area I figured I could handle that. What I didn't know is that Scott's weed & feed for southern lawns must think St. Augustine grass is a weed. How they determine that I don't know. Anyway, I ended up with a yard full of very dead St. Augustine grass and a lot of very green weeds. I was told (after the fact) that somewhere in small writing it says not for St. Augustine grass. Since I can't read small writing I didn't see that. I just thought they would know that St. Augustine grass IS a southern lawn. Anyway, we will soon be planting NEW grass.

It's kinda fun though to never get bored. I know the hubs enjoys doing new projects, so I try to oblige him. :) Wait til he see what I have planned next. Won't go there right now. One day at a time. Here is a new picture of our bunny. He is growing. He is so cute and has the run of the back porch. He isn't even afraid of our dogs. He just sits on these rocks most of the day and at night he runs all over the place. He has it pretty easy. He has a litter box to use and he gets his bowl full of rabbit pellets and carrots everyday. For that we get to look at him and watch how cute he is.
